I purchased an autographed copy from the author and was absolutely gobsmacked when I sat down to read. Nemesis is a lush Gothic tale of vampires. Beautifully written prose surrounds lifelike and terrifying characters to create a world that is so complete you find yourself entirely immersed in the story itself, and what a story! A vampire, unable to recall who or what he is, finds himself charged with saving another vampire. He has no recollection of her or that they have a special bond. Will Nemesis be able to recall who and what he is in time to save them both? You'll just have to read it for yourself to find out. This is the sort of book that will wipe the bad taste of Twilight from your mouth and will remind you exactly what type of monster the vampire is.
Nemesis is the first instalment of the Immortal War and it really sets the tone and flavour of the entire series. This is a rewrite but it’s so beautifully done, SM shows her growth as a writer by being able to add to the perfection that was already there.
Nemesis is/was a vampire/deity who is brought back by the woman/vampire Lamia who screams for his protection from the Warlock Janos who has kept her prisoner and tortured her for an unspeakable length of time.
This is a true gothic love story complete with love triangle, Gods, fallen Angels and all with a gliding narrative and very visual mental imagery.
SM whizzes you through time and space to give the current and back stories to these two lovers, hanging you on the edge until the last page, begging for the next book.

Lamia is held captive and subjected to contibynuous twisted tortures by an evil warlock known as Janos. She eventually manages to escape and runs to Nemesis for sanctuary as her missing husband Michael told her to. But is she really safe here?
Nemesis lives in a parallel dimension in a castle of his own creation. Before Lamia's appearance, his only companionship is a demon servant named Nyvek (the author clearly is a Skinny Puppy fan). Nemesis is intrigued by this beautiful but strong-minded vampire, who awakens both lust and bursts of violent anger. His idea of "protecting" her is keeping her prisoner inside his castle walls.
So, she escapes yet again - this time in our dimension smack dab in the middle of New York City. She takes up residence in an abandoned church, guarded by loyal gargoyles who come to life from dusk 'til dawn. She feeds on denizens of Goth clubs. Nigatemesis realizes that Lamia has stolen his heart, so he follows her. He finds himself a stranger in a very strange land as he tries to navigate th our world.
The two strike a truce that blossoms into romance. But both are plagued by the same recurring nightmare - a post-Apocolyptic world ruled by Janos. Nemesis thinks the only way to save Lamia from what he feels is a premonition is to spirit her back to his realm - but they wind up in that nightmare realm instead, and have to fight for their very lives!
Just beyond the periphery of his consciousness lurks a trinity of female entities Gnosis, Lilith, and Eve. Lamia is triggering some memories in Nemesis with clues as to who and what he really is,
I seriously can't wait to sink my fangs into the rest of the series! I love this book!

This was the first vampire story that I have purchased and I absolutely loved it! Suzanne has such a gift with words. The way that she describes scenery and characters is top notch! The story line grabs the reader and doesn't let go. I am looking forward to the next installment of the series.
The story is heartbreaking. Nemesis and Lamia are anyone who has ever been hurt or abused. They yearn for each other. I don't want to post spoilers, so I'll just say... Read this. Now. You won't be sorry.
I am one for vampires and this book delivered in spades! Nemesis is a vampire with no recollection of who he is. Then he meets Lamia, who is running from Janus. Their paths cross and it's explosions from there. I loved the blending of worlds, they meshed flawlessly, and the nuances of Nemesis/Lamia about their relationship was enthralling. I was hooked from the opening! I read Nemesis in one day, and I finished the whole series in a week. Suzanne blends a share of mythology, goth, vampires, and religion into one story. It has everything I love and look for in the story. One thing that stood out to me is the scenes are erotic, but they are not in your face, and leaves room for the imagination to run wild! A+ story telling!
